Var by Velo 32 – Les Maures Sauvages
Another bucket list ride – been working up to this one for a while and finally ticked it off. Good weather and an early start for this tour of the Maures and some of the region’s best climbs!

This is such an amazing ride – you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere all by yourself. Road surface is….not great….but the climbing and the vistas are exceptional. Be aware that the road can close during the summer fire season.
Cold Springs Tavern is an absolute classic. Pair a nice long Sunday run in the Santa Ynez Recreation Area with a nice long Sunday session with music, epic Tri Tip sandwiches and a beer or two!
Fantastic half marathon along the coastline. In January, it was cold and beautiful. Only downside? Not knowing it was two laps before starting out!
Fantastic ride through Sintra National Park past Cabo de Roca and the Colares wine region. Turn point on the spectacular Praia Grande.
Fantastic ride through the Saint-Tropez area, including the spectacular Col de Canadel overlooking the Med and the Iles d’Hyeres.
Random trail that I wanted to explore – the Jaumet section was…average. The Les Dalles section (a MTB/VTT trail so heads up!) was spectacular on a great day.
Fun run in Nice along the La Promenade des Anglais. Second time we’d done the race and much cooler this time. Fun even and well attended. Plus got a brilliant rainbow when home.
Simply amazing trail and quite a daunting prospect. Heads up the cove into the Santa Rosa mountains before turning left and down to the lake. Remote, extreme and breathtaking.
An absolutely remarkable, crazy, challenging and simply bonkers race. It is no joke with some of the gradients up to 40% – scrambling required, nordic poles optional.
